PORTRAITS + LIFESTYLE | MINI SESSION WITH LOGAN + LENO - SAN FRANCISCO, CA
LOGAN + LENO
mini portrait session - San Francisco, ca
a father-son style mini session in san francisco’s gorgeous mission district with logan and his sweet pup, leno.
I met up with Logan and his doggo on a cloudy day in San Francisco.
we’d decided to meet at Logan’s perfectly curated apartment in the mission and take a little stroll around the neighborhood in search of somewhere to shoot. within blocks of his front door we came upon this gloriously decaying pink wall.
Shooting in urban environments offers interesting challenges and SURPRISING spectators (shoutout to the homeless guy yelling OBSCENITIES at us from across the street while we were shooting). It also offers unexpected textures and backdrops, and the distressed and peeling paint of this pink wall offered a beautiful contrast to Logan’s clean, minimalist style and introduced some cool leading lines, all within the confines of a dead-end alley with garbage bins crowding the corner.
and then, because the location gods were smiling on us this day,
we just turned around and began shooting the opposite wall, which was covered in lush ivy. That’s right kids, this whole shoot took place in an alley to nowhere in the mission and it produced some of my favorite photos to date.

with a mini session like this, it’s essential to select a location that offers a diversity of environments to shoot in. You would never suspect that these images were taken within feet and minutes of each other.
