PORTRAITS | MINI SESSION WITH SIERRA K. - SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA
A sweet little example of one of my Mini Sessions; I met up with Sierra on an unseasonably warm January day and we wandered around the Lakeview neighborhood in South Lake Tahoe, CA looking for visually interesting places to shoot that weren’t the standard Tahoe, rustic mountain or wilderness vibe. We happened upon this cool old industrial building with some old, snow-covered cars parked around back. It had a variety of surfaces that could serve as backdrops, including white-washed brick, these huge windows with cracked panes, and latticed grating. I’m always on the lookout for interesting old cars to shoot with, and this place had a bunch, including this behemoth pickup truck all dusted in snow. Sierra was a dream to shoot with. She styled this outfit and did her own makeup and hair and, with a little coaching, was a natural in front of the camera.
Not far from that rambling old industrial building was this sweet little yellow house that looked like it hadn’t been occupied in a while, so we availed ourselves of it’s street-facing wall and front step to snap these portraits. By utilizing a neighborhood I knew would offer a diversity of colored backdrops, we managed to capture two sets of images that feel very different from each other, all within a few blocks. Mini Sessions are designed to get you the most bang for your buck and for your time. All of these images were captured in the span of 45 minutes and within moments of Sierra and I meeting for the first time.
